If you're wondering whether you really need a meal plan — whether you couldn't just cook, or let family bring things over — it's a fair question. Plenty of mothers ask it.

Then week two arrives. The baby is feeding every two hours. You haven't slept a full night since the hospital, and the person standing in front of the open fridge at 3 p.m., trying to remember whether she's eaten today, is you.

Zuo Yue Zi has a simpler answer: someone else cooks, and you recover. That is the whole tradition, and it's the whole plan.

The Classic Meal plan takes the guesswork out of postpartum healing, delivering the power of Zuo Yue Zi through warm soups, nourishing proteins, and restorative herbs. No prepping. No Googling "what should I eat after birth" at midnight. Just comforting meals that feel like Mom's, cooked from scratch and delivered to your door — every day, for a full month.

What Arrives Every Day

Perfect For You If…

You focus on the baby. We handle the rest.

The Classic Meal is for the mom who wants complete daily support without having to think about food. Three meals a day, warm and ready.

Maybe you're a first-time mom craving structure amid the chaos — a rhythm you can count on when nothing else has one yet. Or a seasoned mom who already knows that good food and low stress matter most this time around.

Maybe you grew up hearing about Zuo Yue Zi and you're balancing tradition with modern life — looking for meals that honor your roots but fit the way you actually live. Or maybe you simply want to feel nourished, cared for, and less overwhelmed.

Whatever your journey, these meals exist to support your recovery — so you can focus on bonding, healing, and being fully present with your baby.

Good Questions

Before you decide

What's the difference between Classic and Herbal?

Both plans deliver three full recovery meals a day from the same kitchen, cooked the same way. The Herbal Meal plan additionally includes the 30-day herbal drinks — the traditional daily herbal drink that follows the recovery sequence. On the Classic plan, you can add the herbal drinks anytime for $10/day.

Will I like the food if I didn't grow up with it?

Most first-timers tell us the food is warmer and more familiar than they expected — savory broths, slow-cooked chicken, gentle vegetables, comforting rice dishes. The easiest way to know for sure is to try a sample day before committing.

How does delivery work?

In our regular service area, meals are delivered fresh every day and we aim to reach your door before noon — though actual times can shift with traffic and routes, so an exact hour isn't guaranteed. Remote areas receive every-other-day delivery, delivery times there can't be guaranteed, and an additional delivery fee may apply. Refrigerate your meals when they arrive, and heat them thoroughly before eating.

When should I order?

At least one month before your due date, if you can. The week your baby arrives, you will not have the bandwidth to compare plans or fill out forms — and you shouldn't have to. Your start date can be adjusted once the baby comes.

Not Sure Yet?

Taste before you commit.

Most mothers who choose the Classic plan tried a sample first. Have a full day of meals delivered — and let the food make the case.

Or call (626) 217-7539 — we're usually around later than you'd expect.
