If you're looking at a lighter plan and quietly wondering whether it still counts as doing Zuo Yue Zi properly — it's a fair question, and worth answering plainly.

Here's the honest answer. Vita isn't a smaller version of the tradition. Your lunch arrives complete: a soup, an entrée, warm vegetables, rice and grains. Your dinner arrives complete: the Taiwanese postpartum soup, a second nourishing soup, an entrée, vegetables, rice and grains. A dessert. The daily healing drink. Nothing thinned out, nothing skipped.

What Vita sets aside is breakfast — the one meal that's often already handled at home.

In many households, breakfast is the meal that's already arranged — the one someone at home tends to take care of. Lunch and dinner are a different matter: the long-simmered soups, the slow braises, the dishes that shift week by week with your recovery. Those are the meals worth handing to us. So when breakfast is covered at home, Vita puts everything into the two meals that need us most, and asks nothing for the one that's already in hand.

What Arrives Every Day

A complete dinner

The Taiwanese postpartum soup, a second nourishing soup, an entrée, warm vegetables, and rice and grains — slow-simmered, never shortcut.

A dessert & your healing drink

One gentle dessert to close the day, and the daily healing drink that comes with every plan — because recovery can still be sweet.

Perfect For You If…

Your mornings are already handled.

The Vita Meal is for the mom who wants lunch and dinner taken care of completely — and doesn't need breakfast on top.

Maybe your mother or your partner is already up early, and breakfast is the one meal your household has arranged. When it's already in hand at home, there's no reason to have it delivered on top.

So Vita covers the two meals that are hardest to manage yourself and leaves the one that's already handled to your household — a lighter plan, and a lighter cost, without cutting a single thing from your lunch or dinner.

If your mornings aren't covered, though — if you'd rather wake to a warm meal already there and not think about food at all — that's exactly what the Classic plan is for, and it's worth every bit of it. Vita is simply for the mother who has breakfast handled.

Your go-to recovery booster — slowly simmered for hours from aged hens and white-feather chickens until every drop is rich with collagen, protein, and minerals, then concentrated into one small, warming cup.

Good Questions

Before you decide

What's the difference between Vita and Classic?

Same kitchen, same recipes, same daily delivery. The Classic plan adds breakfast — egg and porridge — and a second dessert. Vita gives you the full lunch and the full dinner, plus one dessert and the daily healing drink. The simplest way to choose: if breakfast is already covered at home, Vita fits nicely; if it isn't, Classic is the one worth having.

Are two meals a day enough while I'm recovering?

Each Vita meal is a full recovery meal, not a smaller portion of one — lunch and dinner both arrive complete, with soup, an entrée, vegetables, and rice and grains. What Vita leaves out is breakfast. For mothers whose mornings are already covered at home, or who simply don't eat first thing, that's the natural fit. If you'd like breakfast handled too, the Classic plan is the better choice — and if you start with Vita and change your mind, call us and we'll sort it out.

Can I add the herbal drinks to the Vita plan?

Yes — the herbal drinks are an option on Vita at $10 / day, one cup a day, for as many days as you like. The 15 formulas are staged to follow the traditional recovery sequence, so most mothers start them on day one, alongside their meals, and keep the full arc intact from the beginning.

How does delivery work?

In our regular service area, meals are delivered fresh every day and we aim to reach your door before noon — though actual times can shift with traffic and routes, so an exact hour isn't guaranteed. Remote areas receive every-other-day delivery, delivery times there can't be guaranteed, and an additional delivery fee may apply. Refrigerate your meals when they arrive, and heat them thoroughly before eating.

When should I order?

At least one month before your due date, if you can. The week your baby arrives, you will not have the bandwidth to compare plans or fill out forms — and you shouldn't have to. Your start date can be adjusted once the baby comes.

Not Sure Yet?

Taste before you commit.

Most mothers who choose the Vita plan tried a sample first. Have a day of meals delivered — and let the food make the case.

Or call (626) 217-7539 — we're usually around later than you'd expect.
